Email hoaxes/urban legends
An email claiming the Secret Service is, in essence, paying for the Clinton's mortgage on their New York home is a hoax. The Secret Service does have a duty to protect the president's family even after the term in office ends, the agency would only pay $1100 in rent. The Clinton's have declined the payment, according to the Washington Post.
A petition for Afghan Women's Rights is well-intentioned, but a pointless one considering the email address that readers are asked to respond to is no longer valid. So many people responded that it continually crashed the system at Brandeis University where the author originated the message. University officials ask that if readers want more information, to contact other sites on the web dedicated to the cause.
